Well i think i screwed this one up..

Have an IP500, and i planned on putting it on a network.

In LAN1 I set the ip up 192.168.1.98 and my voicemail 192.168.1.99 voicemail shows up on the network fine, the IP office is nowhere to be found.

When i plug my laptop in change my network settings to 192.168.1.50 for my network address and try and connect to the IP office it will not connect no matter what i try it wont even see the IPOffice Unit.

I turned DHCP in the Lan1 tab to client as well.

Maybe I typed in IP Address wrong or im missing something?

when i take the cable plugged into ip office and plug it in to laptop i get the proper IP it is suppose to be so i know the cable is good.

Any idea how i can check the IPoffice to find out what the IP is set to with out DTE?

if you did not change the lan 2 settings then it should still be actinga as a dhcp server on 192.168.43.1.

connect your laptop to the lan2 port & reconnect using this.
(usualy I woudl leave Lan2 like this if possible & set DHCP on lan1 to disabled.)
 
try a network scan like Angry IP scanner

it wont show a host name but it will give you a fighting chance of finding it.

or

Download and install Solarwinds (trial) engineer tool, there is a MAC address network scanner in there, and its great for finding stuff on a network. it will even show you the device name (Network Alchemy - even a 406 shows up as this - not too sure what the ip500 shows up as)
 
Happend to me today, customer could not connect to the Lan2 port. They had put a WIFI in that network with the same IP address.....:)

Me happy....customer not.

I have tried to connect to an IP Office with Manager on an IP500v2 on LAN2/WAN before with no success.

This is an everyday thing for us... IPO doesn't care which port is used.

AVAYApro......turn off the Firewall on that LAN2...this is off by default and the only port with a FW. Or make sure port 69/50796/50802 is opened.

if you have the MAC address tehn open a command prompt
type ntbstat -R
then type in ntbstat -a ipbs-11-22-77 (where 11-22-77 are the last 6 digits of the MAC address tehn it should show you something like this

IPBS-11-22-77 <00> UNIQUE Registered
192-168-100-124<00> UNIQUE Registered
MAC Address = 00-01-3E-11-22-77

This is for the IP DECT stuff but should work for any MAC address.

You can also plug your laptop into that lan 1 port and use wireshark to get the ip it's throwing out. I just did this on a 406v2 that was sitting in inventory that no one knew the ip of and save me from going DTE on that sucker. And to ditto what mforrence said, I too have used lan2 as a work around. It's a lovely port :)
 
chaunymony, i do the same. As for not seeing the unit when plugged straight into it, forgetting to turn off your wireless adapter can cause this (-:

Or if nothing works use DTE and type this:

at<enter>
at-debug<enter>
system<enter>

then you see all ip addresses
