Hello All,

I am trying to export universe and reports from our Dev env to Prod. I created a text file with .biar ext on my desktop.

In Import wizard when i give .biar file as destination, source being dev server

IW throws me an error saying

"Error logging on to server - IWZ00001 The type initializerfor'Businessobjects.Enterprise.Lib.properties.propertybag threw an exception"

I am on version XI R2

Can anyone help me overcome this error.

Thanks

Have you applied any service packs to your XI R2 install? If not, that may be part of the problem - IIRC, there were some bugs in the Import Wizard in the initial R2 version - specifically with biar file handling - that were fixed either by a fix pack or the first service pack.

Can your Production CMS server connect to your Dev CMS server so that you can use the Import Wizard to directly connect the two without having to go through a biar file?

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Thanks hiffy , I did not apply any service packs. My version is 11.5.10.1263

Yes my two servers can connect via ip address and that is how I have been exporting reports, ip to ip

I hope that is the right approach

Thanks

I just re-read your original post. Why are you creating a text file with a .biar extension? A .biar file is a binary file, so having this text file may be your problem with going that route. IIRC, in XI R2, you had to explicitly put the ".biar" on the end of the file name when you entered it in the Import wizard. You're best bet is to use a file name that does not yet exist rather than trying to overwrite an existing file.

Ok , I am confused now -Dell

Can you please let me know the step by step ...where do i create a biar file ?

If i choose source as my dev server using its ip address what do i input in destination when i choose biar from the drop down, what do i enter in the browse section?

Thanks

In the browse section, browse to where you want the file to be located, then enter the name of the file that you want to create, including the ".biar" file extension.
