Does anyone know of a good BGP example that I can go by. We are about to switch ISP's and want to use BGP. Thanks.

2 questions for you:
1-Why do you want to use BGP?
2-How many connections to the internet do you have?

Our new ISP said it would be very good way to use our 2 new T1's. That it would be more efficient.

2 new T1's to the same ISP???? If that's the case, just use static routes.

If it's to 2 different providers, make sure you have a pretty powerful router that is max out in memory. If you haven't already done so, you'll need to get an AS number from ARIN and depending on your ISP, looking into registering with RADB.

Here's some info:

The best solution for that is to use static routes pointing to the ISP for one or 2 T1,s or use 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to your ISP and the second T1 the same with administrative distance of 150

good luck

I just did this i have 2 T-1's to one isp in redunant pop's they have given me an private asn number that will allow me to advertise the registered addresses i feel neccesary to advertise. i have 5 class C blocks but not all need to be advertised. Their routers will redistribute my advertisment to the INET and i will be in control of which IP address's are routeable from the INET. This is an example of using BGP in a non multihomed environment. FYI you can find excellent bgp examples at hope this helps and to you others looking at this thread i'm not crazy this is neccessary for my networking needs.
