I have background music on my home page and want to put a button so visitors can have the option of turning it off. How do I do this?

because it goes so well with the page I just want them to be able to stop it if they want. Do you know of a button script that will do that???

Since you use Flash, you could put the audio file within the SWF file. I am using Mac OSX Safari right now and I cannot hear mavToy.mp3 playing. I probably could if it was in a SWF file.

I dont have flash installed, so that would help visitors who also dont have flash installed.
BG sound is an irritating experience to visitors. You never force your songs on someone who visits your site. You want them to never come back?
90% of internet users now surf with the sound turned off or the volume on their speakers turned down because of background songs. I rather listen to my choice of music while surfing the net. And this is the opinion of many web surfers.

OMG!!! Please!!! Just get rid of the background music! That's the most annoying song I think I've ever heard! (No flame please - that's just a personal opinion).
Personal experiences in web development are as follows:
- Don't use flash. True, it makes things look cooler but not everybody has flash installed. Not everybody wants flash installed. For those people who don't want to install it, you may un-neededly be driving away un-wanted business.
- Don't use background music. Unprofessional. Does or have background sounds? Don't think so. Personally, background sounds (no matter what they are) annoy me. It also increases outgoing bandwidth from your server and increases download time for the client.
If you REALLY need sounds and flash on your page, use the key frames (i think that's what they're called anyways) to trigger the music to start and stop. Put a button on the flash movie that will go to these key frames depending on what the user wants. (Don't quote me on that - haven't used flash in a while
)
