I have a BCM 200 that I just received a FRU Base function tray replacement for, I did not receive any replacement steps on this. is there a document for this? I can't seem to find anything for it on the nortel site. I have already replaced the old BFT and reinstalled the old MSC card in the new BFT, but cannot talk to the BCM thru serial connection or telnet. I cannot talk to it at all. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.

What mage you think it was the BFT?
Would it boot at all before you changed the BFT?
Did Vmail work before you changed the BFT?

Actually I was being as Vague as you in my first reply, you can add these to my 2nd reply.

Do the 10 LED's Flash?
Does the power LED come on?
Does the BCM beep at any time?
Are the fans working?

Ace, I will be a little more detailed this time. When the BCM went down (All lights flashing,no Vmail, no ip sets, still had digital sets and basic functions)I pulled the BFT and found I had what looked like leaking (Green) capacitors. the BFT matched the Nortel bulletin for replacement. I also hit the lottery with the MSC card for replacement. I have replaced a few MSC cards without any issues but I have not done a BFT replacement so I was looking for some type of documentation on it. What else do you think it could be? Thanks for the help.

Dan I have replaced one all procedures came with the replacement but.. Replacement addendum # is P0607273 02
that may be some help,I will look at nortel site went i get back to my base.. Maybe you can look first..

Dan or it may come up under Businss communication manger MSC fru replacement pross, All sets are in there

dan Document ID is 2005006002 version 2 replacement procedures can be found in the FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION section of this advisory

I checked under the document and it redirected me to the BCM doc's,and I really did not get to far with the info in that. I have tried the serial port also and had no response from the BCM.

BFT replacement should be as simple as Unplug everything, remove old hardware, swap BFT's, install old hardware in new bft, insert Tab A into slot B and hit the power switch.

Are you sure everything has been plugged into it's appropriate slots...specifically the hard drive cable. Be sure it's in IDE 1 and not IDE2

I had 1 BCM 400 that I replaced the BFT and the MSC card as per Nortel advice. after replacing both, the BCM would not boot. I replaced the MSC card with another new MCS card, still same problem. I replaced the new MSC card with the old MSC card and the system booted up and 3 month's later it is still working fine. Nortel had no clue why it wouldn't boot with new MSC card.

I have this system back in my lab now,I have put the old MSC card back in the system and I still cannot talk to it, I am thinking at this point the BFT nortel has sent is No good.

Has the BCM got RAID drives? I have experienced issues with the BFT failing and possibly causing issues with the RAID controller card. The site has had to been fully restored with 2 new hard drives. I wondering if the BFT is casuing more trouble thatn Nortel are aware of? Anyone else experience simialar problems?

I have had RAID problems that stopped the BCM from booting, but it would boot from 1 HD if I removed the RAID.
