Hello all, I was so upset and had to post this for your enjoyment! We have an OCE 3520 purchased from a company called Imagistics. Imagistics sent a tech in recently to fix a loose cable on our fiery controller. The tech came in about 3x to fix the same problem. So this last time, he found a high tech solution to "really" fix it and I took a picture of it. Please check out his solution here:

Anyone else have any horror stories?

As a tech, I can appreciate his solution. Looks pretty stable to me.

I'm not sure that is intended as a permanent fix, but I've done similar things to get a customer back up and running. The alternatives some times are to jury rig a solution or to take the machine down waiting for a part to come in on a slow boat from China.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

I agree with edfair, if the tech was to say "this is the fix, call me if you have any more problems" and that's it, yes I too would be a little livid; however, if this was purely a temporary solution till the replacement part came in, and ths was communicated from the tech to the customer, then I would have to commend the tech for ingenuity and trying to keep the customer operational instead of down while the parts arrived.

"If it's a matter of a paperclip, bubblegum, a pair of tube socks, and a 9volt battery that keeps me up and operational, then by all means, MacGuyver it." :)I
