I have a Windows 98SE PC which has the most up to date version of DirectX (v. 8.0a) and it reports that my DirectDraw and DirectSound drivers are "beta" and need to be replaced. The DirectX Diag tells me everything is fine but I keep getting pop-up windows reminding me that these drivers are beta and need to be updated.

There is no newer version of DirectX to upgrade to. What do I need to do to fix these errors? I'm not in a position to Format and Re-install. Any help would help.

It will only happen if you installed the beta version of directx which is 8.1, there is a site where you download directx uninstaller or reformat your hd. from scratch.

Hi,
I am having the same problem as Jeffab. I followed your directions and uninstaled directX 8.1 with the DirectX buster you suggested. I then downloaded and installed DirectX 8.0a and unfortunatley, I am having the same problems. Actually, I can't even run some of my games because of the problem. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Jim

Just make sure that you run the uninstaller in safe mode, that might work better.

Alternatively, if you set back the date on your system it will not notify you that the beta verison is expired.

Hope this helps

Greg
