Hi,

I am having trouble with a W98 machine the error "Operational system not found" keeps appearing.

This requires powering off and on to get going again

Where / what is the best tool to run for checking the hard drive in W98 ?

I have a W98 boot disk, and wonder if booting from this and running chkdsk on the hard drive is the best option ?

Any help / suggestions appreciated

jason

I would run scandisk in safe mode if you can get to that point. Before you do this, take this time to backup any data now, this could be a simple fix, but it also could be the signs of a drive going away...

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
