We have an update statement that should run at 1201AM every day. What is the best way to do this?

I've found how to do it using a SQL Agent Job, but is that the best way? Does anyone know of other alternatives?

Thanks!

Arguably yes, because that way you have more control (although not perfect) over job, it's steps etc.

Vanilla windows scheduler calling osql utility. I'd say this is like trading horse for a donkey in this case.

That's how I would do it. Or you can create a DTS package and schedule it to run then, but it will still run as a job so you really don;t gain anything by doing that.

If you have SQLMAil set up on your system, have it email you everyday when it completes or fails so that you will check to make sure it is running properly.

That brings up another problem then, but I'll post that to a new thread. Thanks again!
