our company is about to launch our website in a few days and we now wanted to get our programmer to optimize the site.

It is at

We sell flag cases and some of the pages are dynamically created. Is there anything we could tell our programmer as far as what he should name the page urls to help with our optimization?

We have searched overture and the top words for our industry are:

flag display cases
flag cases
flag case
burial flag cases
memorial flag cases

We would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on keywords, what would be the best title and meta keywords and descriptions for each page?

Thanks

MsPeppa

Oh sorry, also, has anyone heard of salesboost.net We were thinking about getting them and using their services but are not sure what their past history is like? We are going to invest in google adwords at least initially until we can find a way to be listed as one of the top three. Can anyone recommend something similar to salesboost that will give us very good results?

first off forget salesboost. money thrown away. Third tier PPC dressed up as SEO along with a pointless submission service.

A few days isn't enough to do any serious optimising. Really you should have been looking at optimising from day one of the design. it's easier to work it in from the start rather than add it later. SEO is much more than tweaking a few meta keywords.
Overture suggestions are extremely skewed and not to be relied on as absolutes, Wordtracker is a far better tool but again is only a guide.
A few KW suggestions from NicheBot Not a hugely competitive market place btw.

Titles are important, meta descriptions useful, meta keywords only just above useless.
I'd suggest a visit to IHelpYou and HighRankings SEO Forums to do some serious reading.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Just giving it a quick once over...

Like Chris says, meta tags aren't all that important, but [tt]alt[/tt] attributes are. Search Engines can't read your pictures, so if you're using images to show text you need to put that text in an alt attribute. e.g. in your logo:
Code:
<img src="images/logo.gif" [b]alt="The Robert Monroe Co. - Personalized Flag Case Store"[/b] align="absmiddle">
Doing this is nice useful for blind visitors as well.

Search engines also don't run Javascript, so if you're using it to get around the site - e.g. there's a link on the left hand side to [tt]javascript:assignCatID(11,'Accessories');[/tt]. Search engines won't follow that link, so the page it goes to will not get indexed (unless it can be reached some other way via normal links).

Those points aside, it's a reasonable start.

I see what your saying. I am not sure what to do because we hired a programmer to do it. Other then adding a alt description to our images, there is nothing we can do for the javascript right? Will we eventually be indexed in google or are we sitting ducks?

Also, the website is done and we want to get people to test it out. If anyone out there would like to add products and go through the whole process please do so. It is currently in test mode so the transaction will not go through. For payment mode just select check or money order. Please do this and let me know if come across any issues.

Thanks

Jenna
