You'd think I'd know this by now - but I admit on this one, I'm ignorant.

What is the best/easiest way to creat small caps in Illustrator?

Unlike most other graphics apps - including Photoshop - Illustrator doesn't have a style option for small caps. I know that I can manually resize captial letters to give the appearance of small caps - but what a hassle it is to edit. Am I missing an easier way to do this? Perhaps a plug-in floating out there somewhere? All suggestions appreciated!

The easiest way I have found is to keep the caps lock on start typing use the shift-ctrl< to make the text smaller and then shift-ctrl> to make it larger. Just a few extra key strokes but easier than highlighting.

If I understand correctly, there are cap versions of certain fonts. I use a font loader called suitcase that lets me preview sample text so I just scroll through til I see one in small caps.

Small caps are not just smaller caps. They are weighted differently and have different kerning and leading.
