What is the best way to disable desktop changes without using mandatory profiles?
I want to make sure that nothing gets changed by the users.

Policy setting

don't save settings at exit

Users can make all the changes they want. The minute they logout and log back in.....its back to the way it was.

I am running Windows 2000 Server and have setup a policy that has the "Don't save settings on exit" enabled. The user can still put shortcuts on the desktop and they are still saved. Is there a way to disable changes to the desktop more thoroughly?

Thanks much

You could try policy setting
Hide all items on desktop

that will keep them from putting things on desktop.

Thats all I can think of short of manditory profiles.
I've always had good luck w/ "Don't save settings at exit"

Have you tried it at the local machine policy assuming that you did a group policy on your server already

What's the easiest way to stop users changing the time on q Win2k machine, and how?
