For those mac users who own a JVC Everio camcorder (such as JVC Everio GZ-MG330), it turns a nightmare to handle the damn .mod file on it. Although MOD video files are just modified MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio,iMovie,Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express and many other Mac video editors couldn't recognize it. The only way for it to work is to convert the MOD file to MPG/MPEG.(The program that came with the brand camcorders apparently can do this for you, but gives poor result for some reason.)
<a href= to mpg converter mac</a> apparently does a better job of converting JVC/Panasonic/Canon camcorder MOD mod files to mpg and it supports virtually any video formats including MOD, MKV, FLV, WMV, ASF, MPEG1, MPEG2, MP4, 3GP, 3G2, MOV, AVI, M2TS, MPEG TS/TP (for HD Video), M4V, etc.
