What is the best way to connect 2924 xl-en switches together (I have 5 switches in the same closet, 1 has a fiber port to connect to another building). Want to make sure we don't create bottlenecks within the internal network.

Gig uplinks would be nice :) failing that you can set up a 2 port Etherchannel full duplex which would give you 400Kbps between each switch. You suck up 4 ports per switch except for the last one is the chain which only needs two ports. so you have a etherchannel "daisychain" to the top switch.

You could take one of the five.. split it into couple of vlans and then trunk it out to the main network. The idea is to keep from hanging all four switches on a daisychain to the fifth switch. You would place two switches each with it's own 100 port in a vlan.. two in the other.. the remainder of ports on switch 5 would be the 3rd vlan. All would be trunked across the fiber run to a switch/router to handle the routing between the vlans. The trunk would be bottleneck of sorts since it's limited to 1 fiber.. if you can get TWO fibers.. Etherchannel it and then trunk it.

I'm sure others have other ideas..thats the great thing about networks.. 1 problem and 10 ways to solve it :)
