best way to check for external database 1

Hi!
I am looking for a nice way to check in vba, if an external database mdb-file does exist. (I would like to get around the error handling with opendatabase, etc...).

Did you look up the DIR function in help? I think it will do what you want... Terry M. Hoey

yes that does it; i got a type mismatch when i tried that earlier (strangely there is no info about dir() and it's return values in the access 2000 help...)
