Best way of updating DB from a website

I apologise if this too wide ranging a question, but sorry I am new to SQL Server.

I am sure this is a typical scenario: we have a website capturing customer information and I need to update my SQL Server (2005) database with this information. Similarly, updates made in the database may need to be uploaded to the web pages.

Is there a 'best of breed' solution to doing this? What would you recommend?

What do you use for your website? If you're using ASP.NET then you can use ADO.NET commands.
