I need to import data from a excel sheet into a already exsisting table. The column names arent the same and there are lesser columns in the Excel sheet than my table. Is DTS the best way of importing the data or is there a better way?

Thanks for the help.

With the source being Excel, DTS is going to be your best bet.

DTS is the way to go. Go ahead and set up the import from the excel worksheet to the table. You should come to a screen that has a Transform tab. Open that tab and you will be able to direct where the excel fields match up w/ the associated table fields. Once that do not match up will have a null inserted.

Thanks
