Best VPN for Outlook Express 2007

I need a security solution for using a LAN connection. I will be using my personnel laptop with win 7 to connect to a supplied connection by an untrusted source. I understand the basic principle of VPN but that's about it. I need all internet traffic to be encrypted in both directions. I have a colleague that has a corporate VPN that failed to wrap his outlook account. It was compromised, his IT department is trying to determine the extent of the damage.

What is the best VPN service to protect my outlook exchange account?

Not sure if this matters, in order to access the internet you have to accept the terms to access the internet and it does state that your information may be seen by others. The solution needs to be for a single user.
