I know there is ESEUTIL with some switches and options. Are there any other free utilitys to do this? Also if I need to use eseutil, what is the best way to use it, what switches/options? Thanks,

I'd advise caution. Are you sure you need to run it? ESEUTIL is powerful, and can turn a slightly broken database into the digital equivalent of rubbish if used in the wrong way. There aren't really any other utilities that do what it does (not fee ones, anyway), and you should alwasy try an ISINTEG first. For more on both these utilities see any decent Exchange book, or the MS KB.

I have used this utility as recently as this weekend and it worked well. I tend to take a copy of the priv.edb and move it to another machine leaving the working copy of the priv.mdb intact on the exchange server. Then copy eseutil and ese.dll into the same directory as the priv.edb on the machine you are going to use. Bring up a dos prompt and type "eseutil /d priv.edb". This may take hours depending on the size of the IS. When completed, rename the priv.edb on the exchange server eg priv.old (just in case). Copy over the one you have just eseutil'd and start the services back up. This really worked well for me. One of our old servers kept stopping as it had reached its limit on disk space. Eseutil took the priv.edb from 7Gb to 3.5Gb and works perfectly.
