Best stripe set on a symmetrix with Oracle

I have a Symmetrix 8530, running an Oracle un Tru64, a 250GB DB kind of data warehouse application.

I want to use the best stripe set. I'm considering to use 16-members metavolumes, so IO is best distributed among DAs. However I've read that more than 4 or 8 members metavolumes, performance is not increased. Is this true? Why?
