I've used Sniffer Pro 4.7 and that's great - personally I find it easier to drive than NI Observer 8. But observer 8 has some good facilities like following a conversation with timings for the exchange of packets.
However for quick and dirty sniffing I recommend Ethereal too - it's very good for general sniffing - it has powerful features I use like following conversations and the like - it just lacks some of the pretty graphing and reporting features of the paid for stuff.
It also has more trouble showing packet errors - often they just show as unknown packets.

@Vipergg, I can imagine that someone who doesn't user Sniffer Pro, might think that "Network General" means "Networking in General".
