Hello all,

Iam new to frontpage and this forum, this my seem a daft question but iam i right i thinking that 600 x 800 is the standard size for a web site?

If so can i be altered in front page so i dont have to alter my size size every time i need to preview it.

Thanks

800x600 is a good size in some respects and not in others. For example, many people have their monitors set to that size. However, with someone set to 1024x768, you can end up with a lot of white space. For someone with 640X480, they might have to scroll (which they might find annoying). You can use FP to test in all three resolutions to see how the site looks and make adjustments to try to get the best out of all three.

If you use tables for formatting the site, the tables can control the size. If tables are set at 100%, they will readjust automatically no matter the resolution (although this is dependant on the widths of any images you have). If you want to design specifically for 800X600, you can also set the table size by a specific width to ensure it fits. Just make sure you test it in 1024X768. I've seen plenty of sites designed for 800x600 where they centered all the pages--except for one page they missed.

Another thought...
If you're designing pages that your visitor may wish to print, it would be a good idea to make the length less than 8 inches.
That would be accomplished by adding up the length of all the tables on the page, or even easier it so put all your tables into one large one, and setting the length of that table at 7 1/2 inches or so, with the smaller tables left with no specific height.

max width would be approx 750 to max 770px.
640x480 nobody uses anymore.

and 800 is too much 'cause browsers tend to have a scrollbar and other stuff that is taking up some space.

make your home page in all 3 of the above resolutions so that your site looks proffesional on that page, and on others go with the 750 rule. :)

hope this helps

Kova

Is there a place in front page where i can set it to 750 X 770 ?

MrMcFestoe.

kova revers to the WIDTH of the page. You are not limited in height (though you may want to make your menu not scroll over 3 pages :) )

safe width : 750 pixels
maximum width : 770 pixels
