Hi
Can you please advise me the best Dongle for my laptop if I want to use the cloud (free hotspot) at McDonalds. I can use it in the restaurant but not outside. What is the best Dongle I can get which will give me the best distance. Some manufacturers claim great distances but I would like to get some real experience from a user here.

Ideally I do not want a cumbersome aerial / antenna. In fact the smaller the better.

I currently use windows XP though my machine had Vista when I bought it and I may revert to it soon.
Thanks
Mark

Most laptops nowadays have WiFi built in, so not so many folks use the plug-in USB devices. On the few I've used in the past, I can't say I've noticed much of a difference between them.

The fact that you can't get a signal outside of McDonalds is perhaps by design - they want you INSIDE buying a burger! [cook]

McDonalds like many stores limit the connection so it works inside the location so you will eat while browsing. So regardless of how strong you get the dongle the access point still has a limited range.

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.
