what is the best practice of upgrading the citrix 4.0 to 4.5? are there any issues that I will need to aware of?
Many thanks,

Where is the data store for the PS4 farm? How many servers are in the farm?

Generally it's better to create a new farm altogether, rather than upgrade.

The data store is on sql 2k server, 2 servers in the farm; will it make sense to create a new server with 4.0 and upgrade it to test it ?

If it's only two servers, I'd just create a new data store and 4.5 farm altogether.

Does it mean that i have to install all of the apps from scratch? I know that if I start from 4.5 fresh that I will have less point of failure issue not to say that I am not going to have any issues.

You'd have to install the apps from scratch, as you have to install the Citrix software prior to installing your apps.

unfortunately that is not an option, since I wasn't the one install the app and there are compatibility issues with win2003 sp2. It will take a long time to install the app and test the app. Have you experienced any issues during the 4.0 to 4.5 upgrade?

you can try creating a new farm, then uninstall Citrix on the current boxes and install 4.5 and add to the new farm, at least that way you'll save your apps.

You mean i can create a new farm on the 4.0 PS server? I guess there isn't any other options. Is it worth to have the 4.5? It seems like 4.5 is not a major upgrade.
