Best Practice: Sql Server image insertion & Interdev Extraction

To anyone who can help,

I have deliberately left this question very open as I have read many various different ways of attempting the task and am still not clear on the best way to achieve it.

Basically I would like to know the best way to insert images into a SQL Server database and then use Interdev to extract the images from the database to show on a website.
