Just doing a sanity check as I have never turned one off. We have some electrical work that is going to end up having to shut off power to my PBX. Is it really this simple? Or should I do more backups of some kind? I know the last time our call pilot got shutdown accidently it did not want to come back up! (600R version of it) Feeling a bit nervous.....

The way I do it:

1) LD 43 EDD
2) Backup and shutdown Meridian Mail/CallPilot if applicable
3) Backup and shutdown Contact Center if applicable
4) Whether AC or DC switch, take the bottom panel off the back of each column and turn the system off at the breakers. Leave the power supplies in thwe shelves in the ON position.

When power restored:

1) Turn breakers on each column
2) After system boots up, power up Meridian Mail/CallPilot if applicable
3) Power up Contact Center if applicable

I'm assuming this is an A/C switch, so yes, just turn the breakers off in the back. The Call Pilot, do a shutdown through windows and then power it off.

If you do have Contact Center then you should start it before the CallPilot or the ACCESS channels may not start properly.

Turning off the breakers at the bottom is the best idea as it's common for the switches on the power units to turn off but not back on again due to a build up of muck inside where the switches are located.

OK - it's a DC switch. The Call pilot is plugged into a wall outlet though..... do I really need to shut it down? I don't think it will lose power. The Rectifiers and Battery stuff will be what gets turned off. I dont know if it will give me problems to leave it running - I just fear it not wanting to boot up

No contact center here.

Kinda depends on how long the power will be off and if the batteries are any good. But DO NOT turn off the power supply switches, they fail quite regularly. Just kick the breakers off in the back. If you don't think the Call Pilot will lose power then leave it alone, but a graceful shutdown is always preferred on a Windows machine.

OK guys - thanks! The last time the CP died was when they had an unexpected power drop - I spent 3 or 4 days battleling that thing...... I did purchase new ram chipsets for it though. Supposedly there was known issues with the OEM ones that they got corrected. So, I will have them at the ready and swap them if I do have to take it down. I didn't want to chance it on a whim though...... I have no idea what we will do if that thing loses a hard drive? How easy would that be to mirror that one to another drive...? I think there is unique software on those isn't there? As far as I know I don't have the original SW for it..? The vendor who set it up originally is out of business now...... kinda on my own.
