Hi all,

I'm in the process or about to upgrade our existing Exchange 5.5 server to Exchange 2000. I'm new to Exchange 5.5/2000 there I'd like to know your opinion as to which method is the best and easiest for my scenario below:

Current scenario:

1) Exchange 5.5 running on Windows NT Server 4.0 (old hardware)

I recently purchased a new Dell 2650 server and wish to install Windows 2000 with Exchange 2000.

What I wanted to know is which is the best method to upgrade Exchange 5.5 on an old box to Exchange 2000 on the new Dell server? Would the Swing Method appropriate?

thanks to all

katchme

P.S All of our servers are running Windows 2000 servers with 1 primary DC and 3 backup DC.

What domain type are you running. BDC makes me think it's NT4? If so, you need to install Active Directory before trying to install Exchange 2000.

Um, the part where he says "all of our servers are running Windows 2000 servers" kind of rules out the NT4 bit, and also that he didn't mention BDC's, but purely DC's. ;-)

katchme - if you'll check out the FAQ section for Exchange 2000 Server, there are several different methods laid out on how you could proceed.

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.
