Best encryption soluition for Unix platforms

Hi all,
I am new to the Unix OS and am researching data encryption. As in files. I know there are public utils like GZIP and the like. What are the best vendor solutions that you may have tried or use today to protect your production "eyes only" sensitive data?

We're using PGP from Network Associates (

PGP is very strong, and widely used. You can also check
