Soliciting advice and recent experience on cordless solutions with IP Office R11....

I have a customer who is a motorsports dealer. He has 3 buildings (Showroom, Service, Repair), which are connected to one another. There is existing WIFI throughout. However, I have no experience with WIFI phones, and the reviews that I've seen are not impressive. There is very limited wiring throughout these buildings, outside of the WAP cabling. They are requesting 6 "cordless" phones and zero corded phones.

I have used the Avaya D100 systems in the past, with moderate success. But these have been discontinued with no apparent replacement.

If you have had RECENT success with a particular cordless solution, please share your experience.

Thank you

The D100 is an okay solution, but as you know is discontinued to be replaced with the D200 out in early January 2022. The D200 has the advantage of call handoff from base to base that the D100 lacked, but that's all I know about it.
Very recently I have installed a new IPO R11.1 with the DECT R4 solution and the customer is very happy. It was in a large retail store, 3 base stations and over 30 handsets, it works well with tremendous coverage, even outside in the parking lot.

If they are just looking for a normal IP phone, I agree with gwebster that a J100 with a WiFi module would be a good option but obviously, the phone would need to be powered so with no POE, you would need power adapter. Just have good line of site to the WAP to the J100.

Dect is also a good solution if customer wants to be more mobile. I have seen Dect used more often in manufacturing/repair and customers like it that dect phones can just clip onto a belt.

Thank you all for your input. I failed to mention that they wanted to be mobile. So, the J100 is not an option in this case. Thank you for the suggestion though. I didn't realize there was such an animal. I've been out of the Avaya world for a couple years. I will certainly consider this on future projects.

The D200 peaks my interest. I thought I had seen something on it several months ago, but could not find it while pursuing this project. It's good to know that it will be available next month. The customer is not in a big hurry, so perhaps I will lean that direction.

Thank you all again

The D100s are OK but stink if trying to use as a regular phone as transferring calls sucks. Install some Engenius analog cordless and they work easier.
