Hi all,

I'm newbie on VMware.

I want to know the best backup strategy for backup.

The environment will have:
9 physical servers with a total of 116 VM in all servers
Physical server will be connected to a SAN
I've an external NetWorker backup server for AIX with a tape library also connected to a SAN

My questions are:
Does it exist a NetWorker module/client for VMware ?
For backup data of each VM, what is the best method, installing a NW client on VM or using a way to backup the snapshots ?
Do you recommend to backup the Service Console ? How would you do that ?

I need your suggestions about.

Thank you

We will be backing up vmdk's using a product, now owned by EMC called Avamar Axion. Check out We are kicking off a script that will snapshot the vm and then backup the -flat.vmdk and all the config and log files. The way that Axion works allows for the backups to take minutes not hours and has very little overhead on the Service Console. We are also using the agent inside the guest instead of the Netbackup agent
