We have a Windows 2003 SBS server (std. edition) and it
has exchange 2003 in it. It acts as our domain server
and mail server(exchange).

We wanted to install or deploy a anti-virus/spyware software on this 2003 SBS server which will act as our virus protection for the entire network( 50 users desktop)
and virus protection for our emails too.(since exchange 2003 sits on the 2003 SBS serer).

Any good advice or suggestios ?

--Thanks
Sam

I use Computer Associates eTrust 7.1. The reason I like it so much is that I have control of the workstation. From the server you can configure virus updates, schedule scans and how to treat a virus. It also runs on my server which in most cases is very exspensive, but ca for a server is around $100 and I think each client was $20 or so. You can request a trial copy. give it a try.

Sophos and Trend also do SBS suites. Sophos is very good but can be pricey. Trend is less expensive and also works well - although admin is through a web console on the SBS server and can be a hassle initially to configure because of the default SBS web components.

I'll vote Symantec, just to make everyone else groan. :)

I have a few clients about your size all running Symantec Enterprise 10 -- SAV for Exchange on the server and Corporate on the desktop. Symantec's anti-spyware in version 10 is turning out to be quite good. I've been slowly phasing out the few problem users who warranted MS Anti-spyware or some other dedicated spyware blocker.

More expensive than CA for sure, not sure about the others.

CA is awesome and the new version is coming out soon so hold out for that.

I vote for CA's eTrust anitvirus and CA's anti-spyware (eTrust Pest Patrol). I really like the central managment features on them.

Cheers.

Take a look at Panda anti-virus. I've had it installed at several locations over the past two years. Works very well.
