Best Antenna For ME?

I would like to know if anyone would recomend a antenna that is known to go through minimum obstructions. The distance between the two buildings is less then a quarter of a mile, and is pretty much a direct shot but there is a couple houses in the way.

Ive drawn an example of my situation to give you a better view.

so long as you have enough elevation to be above the houses, and have line of sight, anything over about 8dBi should do. WIthout actual line of sight, no promises that any antenna will help.
