Hi Guys,

I have a site with 3 BES-1020s. Currently all a flat network for voice and data. I am adding another 15 IP phones so am looking to start VLANs now. The switches are currently just dasy chained.I have looked through the config guides and dont see how to trunk both VLANS across the switches. Is this possible on these devices ?

Any advice or help is appreciated.

I've only laid hands on one BES1020, but you should be able to do everything through the web interface.

Create your new VLANs on each switch, for example VLAN 10 and VLAN 100. Assign those VLANs to the uplink ports on each switch. If using port 24 as the uplink, you'll have VLAN 1, 10 and 100 assigned to port 24. Set that port as tagged. You'll need to build those VLANs on the other switches and also configure the uplink ports as tagged trunks. You'll then be able to add ports in VLAN 10 or 100 as access ports in the appropriate VLAN.
This doc should help:

Don't forget that you'll need some device to route between those VLANs. The BES switches are layer 2 only. You can use a router with 802.1q interfaces to route, or maybe you already have a L3 switch in the mix somewhere.

Thanks Biv,

I'll give it a go. Just my first time doing this.
