Hi All
I Have Multiple NT 4.0 Servers on a SAN, running BENT 8.6 with the Shared Storage Option, with one server being the Database Media Server. All the Servers backup fine to our Robotic Tape library and I see backup speeds of around 300Mb/Min (Depending on the data). However, I recently restored a Job, as part of a Server migration (which contained user home directories), and the restore speed is around 30Mb/Min. The Server in question had all the normal stuff stopped - Anti-Virus etc, Minimal Services running so lots of free memory and CPU was running about 3% Utilisation. I know the SAN's OK - (1GB Fabric) and the other servers were not really doing alot (No Tape Access and minimal Storage Array Access as this was yesterday - "SUNDAY"![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
I know that Restores can take longer than the initial backup, especially with Veritas BENT 8.6 (So I am told). but
can someone point me in the direction of a Veritas Technote or similar article that confirms that Restores are slower and by what factor if this is true. Or can anyone shed any light on the matter.
Many Thanks
