I have a customer with a BENQ DQ60 DVD writer.
All of a sudden, in his machine (XP Media Center – SP3) it will not burn CD’s. It sees the disc as full in Windows Explorer. Nero 8 and XP’s native burning utility just eject the disk when he starts the burn. We have tried several new CD-R’s – all TDK Certified Plus disks.
I pulled it from his machine and put it into a machine I have (XPP – SP3) and it works fine with either Nero 8 or XP’s native burning utility. The customer supplied me with a selection of disks that he has tried to use.
Any thoughts as to what might be wrong?
Thanks

Things to try:
1. Remove, and then reinstall(right-click on anything in the list, and tell Windows to check for hardware changes, or reboot) the burner in device manager.
2. Try a different cable to the optical drive.
3. Check for any applications that are running which could interfere... for isntance, see if you get the same results when starting, then burning with one of the apps, in safe mode.

Should have mentioned that I deleted the drive and the IDE controllers from Device Manager but it didn't help. I will try the cable and safe mode idea
Thanks
