Hello all,
I recently installed backup Exec 9.0 (rev. 4454) onto 2 systems (both are Windows NT 4.0 SP6a). Both systems were previously using ArcServeIT to do backups.
I completely uninstalled ArcServe, rebooted, and then installed Backup Exec. On Server 1 (our ERP and database server with an external tape drive), there were no problems at all - it recognized the media right away, allowed me to schedule jobs, and the scheduled jobs have run without a hitch.
However, on Server 2 (our file and print server with an internal tape drive), the jobs that I schedule never seem to run properly. Twice in the past week I have come in in the morning to find a Dr. Watson error that bengine.exe failed on the screen, and the backup job failed. The logs from the jobs don't offer any clue about the problem - they often say a different thing each time, and the last job that failed didn't create a log. I can't find anything in the support docs on the Veritas website.
I also have Backup Exec running on our Windows 2000 domain controller (external tape drive), with no issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Shawn
