Hi,

I have just bought the Belkin wireless router (F5D7630-4A - 802.11g) and have set it up in my lan. I need to connect two wireless desktop's running windows XP SP2 to the net. The LAN is working fine with complete wireless activity. The problem is the internet connection. If I set the router to 'Disable Internet Sharing (Bridge mode, for single PC) then everything is fine although I can only have one machine connected to the net and have to share it through ICS.

What I want to do, is use PPPoE to route the conection for multiple PC's. I seem to have all the parameters set up in the router - VPI etc. but the router won't connect. I am a little confused with two parameters - Encapsulation (currently set to LLC) and MTU (set to 1454)

Does anyone know what may be going wrong?

If it is any help, Wanadoo uses a password and username to connect. These are set in the router but still no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Richard

1st, go to the Belkin setup and it will tell you if you are connecting from the router ok. Disable all the ICS, and on the computers, make sure the gateway ip address is the ip address of your router.

Thanks,

I have managed to get thr router to connect properly. The only worry that I now have is to do with disconnection. I don't have an always on connection so need the router to disconnect after inactivity. I have set this to five minutes. How can I check that it has broken connection from my ISP. Should the data light go out or is there someother way of checking.

Thanks

Richard

with the same belkin interface program, you should see the status, on the computer you will be checking with, remove the gateway, so it does not try to logon to the internet.

Thanks again cdlvj

Do you mean that I should completely remove the gateway from the computer and not reinstall it? Also, if the Belkin interface says not connected does this mean it has no connection whatsoever to the net? I know this is probably a silly question, but I need to be sure as it's not my PC and my client won't be pleased if they suddenly go over their monthly time allowance.

Thanks

Richard

Just go to the properties and blank out the gateway info.

and if the belkin page shows not connected, it means the timeout works,

you could also call the isp and they can also tell you if you have a connection.

Thanks alot for all your help. It seems to disconnect, both the data light and the connection tab on the belkin interface show no connection.

Much appreciated.

Richard
