Hi,
I'm running an IBM R51 with factory installed W-LAN NIC (Intel 2200BG). Whilst the indicator on the bottom front of the notebook lid shows the W-LAN is 'ready' to go, Windows 2k (SP4) shows "Network Cable Unplugged" all the time. I've updated the drivers, ran diags etc. Is this what is supposed to occur until a W-LAN is in range AND broadcasting its SSID? As well, if I hit the Fn+F5 feature key on the notebook (to turn off/on Wireless), I get an error to say "unable to change the power state of the 802.11 wireless radio". Like I said though, the diags in the recovery partition all show 100% that the adaptor is plugged in and visible.
Any ideas on if this is 'normal'? I don't want to go out and get a W-LAN router for home just yet if this notebook is not working properly...
Thanks.
