I now have access to Dexterity as VBA was having limitations that I could not overcome (data grids, etc.). I have it installed and have basically figured out how to get things going, but I have some basic questions that the documentation does not seem to address - directly anyways.

Example: I would like to alter the User Preferences window with a button that would open a separate form that would allow data entry to a new table. However, our partner has already altered the window and I don't have access to the source code (which brings up a whole other question...). Should I or can I alter their window seeing our users can only access one version of a modified window?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

As a Certified Dexterity Instructor, I would highly recommend you attend a Dexterity training course.

The situation you describe is one of the few flaws with Dexterity. That you can only have one modified or alternate window. Firstly, you need to identify whether the changes made by your partner were with Dexterity (alternate window) or with Modifier/VBA (modified window).

If this is Dexterity, then you cannot add a button to another developer's alternate window with Dexterity, unless you actually have their code. However, you can use a Form Trigger to add an Extras menu with the additional navigation. Please note that Alternate windows should be avoided if possible to reduce the chance of a clash like this.

If this is Modifier, then you could create your own alternate window and manually transfer the Modifier/VBA changes across to combine the two windows.

Hope this helps
