My question is similar I am just beginning with AS/400 and am using an emulator to run my queries. I believe we have DB2 as far as the RDBMS.
What I am having trouble with are common commands.

For example how do I display the properties of the server that is I want to know the version on the AS400

Thanks in advance.

On just about any printout that you get the version is listed. I believe that there might be a system value, but I don't remember for sure. Mike Wills

If I'm reading you right, you can just go to the command line and type "go licpgm" (go to Licensed Programs).

Take option 10 - Display installed licensed programs.

Hit F11 to show the release versions of the software you have in your system.

Hope that helps! J.R. Juiliano

hi,
chkprdopt command may be useful .
if ur system is v5r1,(don't do it if U know?!)
chkprdopt 5722ss1 lodid(2924)
the case of v4r5,
chkprdopt 5769ss1 lodid(2924)

my case(Japanese and v4r5)
chkprdopt 5769ss1 lodid(2962)

If u accept *all parms, it takes a long time to exec.

...Have a nice day

Here's another way...

DSPDTAARA QUSRSYS/QSS1MRI

The OS version is in the 1st 6 chrs of this data area.

The method I prefer is DSPSFWRSC OUTPUT(*). Press F11 at the display and it will list the release levels. This command will also list 3rd party software if the software has registered itself with OS/400.
