I do not have any real experience with MS Sharepoint, but I understand that it's a tool that allows teams to collaborate on projects using a portal site. Now one of our clients is already using Sharepoint 2003 on their server, and they want to know whether the front-end website we built can be managed through sharepoint as well. Basically we're talking about some simple pages, that need to have items (heading, text, maybe an image) removed or added every now and then. I've already built the pages and templates using Macromedia Dreamweaver, and now I have to find out whether I can integrate it into Sharepoint. Our client has to be able to update the site through Sharepoint without having to deal with actual code.
I've been wandering through the portal environment, but so far I can't seem to figure out whether this basic functionality is available in Sharepoint 2003 or not. All I can find are ways to create project pages and add web parts to them. I did upload a file and used that as a template, but apart from that I can't seem to specify areas that should be editable on the page.
My question is: is it possible to maintain an end-user website like a regular CMS with Sharepoint 2003? If so is there any good starting point or tutorial that explains how to do this? I know the program is not really intended for it, and that version 2007 has better CMS support, but I just need to know whether it's possible or not.
Thanks!
