Beginner with a VPN question

I'm fooling around with a cisco ASA 5510 and I'm trying to figure out what all I need to set in order to create a VPN that uses credentials stored on the ASA rather then through a radius server or LDAP.

What I know I need is a group username and password along with an individual username and password. I'm just not sure what all else is needed.

Does someone have a good checklist in their heads or is there a good place to find a guide to this besides expensive cisco classes?

It is for local auth but extended so you need a group and password and then a username and password to connect.
