beginner-Sendmail-help!

i am farely new to apache and sendmail.
i have a dedicated server running sendmail.. and i am able to send out the mail, but when i try to reply back to the address the mail was from, it bounces...
and i have no idea, what i can do about that..
please help...

I too have this problem. It basicaly steams from the fact that you have no reverse dns lookup for your domain!

You can send mail out (like me), but if someone tries to reply to a mail you sent from this server they will get a host name lookup failure, cos there are no dns servers that know anything about you domain --> ip mapping! Or in simple terms you need to install/configre named or some other dns server.

Note:some mail server will not accept mail from any client that they cannot do a reverse dns lookup on!

The way i get around this is i include a different reply address! I then download this mail account with fetchmail and forward to my local mailbox which i retrive with outlook!

This is just a temporary fix, realy you need to sort out the dns server (named) on this box. This is what i am currently trying to learn how to do!
