Forgive me if this question is a waste of your time, but I'll be glad to know if C++ is a prerequisite to Visual C++. I have had no mastery of programming in the high level language except assembly language using M68000 processor.

I see a lot of comments on the errors when compiling my code. Where can I can a good read out of what the comments on the errors are trying to say? I have SAM's Teach Yourself Visual C++ 6 in 21 Days, but cannot find any section explaining the error comments.

Thanks for any help.

its a dirty job but somebody got to do it.

Well I suppose the answer to this is yes. Only in that Visual C++ is the Microsoft incarnation of C++. C++ is an ISO Std 14882 language, but with Visual C++ MS has added a few (although crap) bells and whistles.

If your using visual c++ with sams... i suggest doing it in a console app that does not use MFC. Make sure to include the propper "include" files and you should be good to go.

Thanks guys, so I gather that C++ is a must as a prerequisite to Visual C++. Well, I guess its going to
be a loooonng road for me.
