I have a project which invloves TCL,Delphi,Oracle,UNIX-AIX RS6000.
Now i don't know anything about TCL and Delphi. I have background of PERL and Unix though.
I just want to know how easy or difficult is TCL to learn as a new language with someone having UNIX/LINUX and PERL background. What are the similarities, differences between TCL and PERL besides being a scripting language.
I need some inputs from you guys. Also if possible pls give me some links to start with.

Thanks in advance

I found Tcl very easy to learn. I didn't know any PERL but I did know BASIC (and FORTRAN) and some fundamental scripting basics (CLISTS, BAT files, etc). For my money, scripting is scripting; you just have to learn the syntax. To do that, there are a few books available (I started with Brent Welch's Practical Programming in Tcl and Tk). By far the biggest help to me (besides this forum) was the Tk demo set that comes with the download. Just look at the code that goes with the demo. And, the help files are excellent.
