I have a VPN set up between an RV082and a BEFXS41. The 'SX41 says it is 'connected' but the RV082 says 'Waiting'. Of course the best way to test this is to try to pass traffic, but I am remote to both router right. I was just checking them out on the web interface. What gives? 'SX41 is 1.50.?? and RV082 is 1.1.4 I believe. I know there is an update out for the RV082 but I haven't installed it yet. Also what is up w/ Linksys updating firmware w/in days of each other. One view says "Hey, they're on top of stuff and very proactive" and another view says "are they releasing buggy code right off the ole Louisville?".
But, any way to tell if these two routers are REALLY connected?

Thanks,

hudr,

1) The BEFSX41 should be using firmware version 1.45.7, since 1.50.x (especially 1.50.18) are trash. The 1.45.7 firmware is available on the site in the Linksys forum. You might also try the 1.51.0 firmware, but it has many other problems. To date, 1.45.7 is the most stable firmware.

2) As for verifying the connection once established, you should be able to ping the private address range of the BEFSX41 (e.g., 192.168.1.x) from the System Management >> Diagnositc page of the RV082.

Hope this helps!
