BEFW11S4 connection issue

I have a BEFW11S4. I have been using it with my Dell 8600 laptop around the house for about a year with no problems at all. I wanted to hook up our Dell Dimension 2400 to it via wireless connection but am having trouble. I purchased a Linksys wireless B PCI adapter. It installed fine and when I connect to the router the network icon changes from Very Good to Unavailable every 4 or 5 seconds. All the while the laptop is running fine.Either I get this working or the wife is going to make me run cables 2 floors up which I do not want to do....
The Wireless security screen shows Enabled, WPA Pre-Shared Key, TKIP,

Turn off WPA on the client. The router does not support WPA.

And turn off 802.1x authentication on the client if enabled. Your router does not support that either.

There is no WAP option in the client properties....

Either you have the router and all clients using WPA, or none of them using WPA.
