Hi,

I have a BEFSR81 with 4 Dell workstations connected to it. The workstations get shut down at the end of each day but if you look at the router there are 2 ports that show they are connected to a device.

Port 1: Shows all LED's on.
Port 2: Shows the Link and 100 LED's on.

Port 1 is a Dell workstation with XP.
Port 2 is a Dell laptop/docking station with XP.

The other 2 workstations have Win2000 and Win98 and nothing is on when the PC's are shutdown. The office had a Netgear box before the Linksys and it did the same thing.

I've never seen this before on a switch and was wondering if anyone knows what this is about.

Thanks for your help.

Ken

When this happens, unplug the workstation and docking station. I would say, that the nic's are still powered (for wake on lan features). If the led's go out, that's what it is.

I do agree with smah, if you'd like you could try using different NICs that doesn't have WOL features...

I would say that you can use a WOL NIC card, but make sure that you have to disable it on your Motherboard Configurations. You can Enable/Disable that feature of the NIC.
