Will the Linky BEFSR41 work with a T1 connection? I plan to have it as a abackup incase my COMCAST cable connection goes down. question is : How do i set the router to work with a T1?

First of all you need some kind of CSU/DSU to terminate the T1. That said most devices I've seen have router functions built-in. Theoretically you can use your Linksys for any WAN device so long as that device egress with 10/100baseT Ethernet. But if you have a T1 router then it defeats the purpose of using the Linksys. Furthermore, you may have difficulties if your T1 is a nailed PPP connection since the Linksys uses PPPoE for authentication. I doubt you would be using PPPoE over a T1, but I could be wrong about that.

So how do i found out if it is a PPP connection in nature? is that a CSU setting.

I understand that PPPoE is used for user authentication in DSL internet subscribtions.. right..

I thinks we have fractional T1 connection using only 16 channels (16x56k)...

You are going to double NAT, with the WAN side using DHCP and LAN side on a different network segment.

This is an emergency backbone setup. If you wanted to do T1 with 16 channels you would add a switching firewall to the mix.

You really need to talk to your ISP for DSL and your T1 provider. It seems to me that if you can get franctional T1 with at least 16 channels, you use your DSL for backup and your T1 for primary.
