BEFSR41 router logon problem

I am having problems logging on to my companies network over the internet using a BEFSR41 router and NT 4.0 sp6. I get a "No Windows NT Domain Controller is available for domain" error eventId 5719. I have logged in, in the past using the BEFSR41 when I had pppoe but when I went to a static IP address and disabled the pppoe I lost the ability to logon. I can still log on if I use my dialup accout with the same ISP. Acutally if I log on using dialup netwoking most of the traffic still appears to go through the router only the actual logon seems to need dialup newtworking. All the appropriate names are listed in LMHOSTS, like I said the network can be found with either pppoe or (regular) dialup networking.

Any ideas?
